Cornel West | The Power of Hope | Equity Talks

Dr. Cornel West is a renowned American philosopher, professor, political activist, and New York Times best-selling author. A professor of philosophy at Harvard and a professor emeritus at Princeton, West has edited 13 books and written 20 of his own including Race Matters, a bestselling collection of essays, and a memoir, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud.

Outside the classroom, West is known for his activism and social commentary — from protesting against apartheid in South Africa to his support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Today, he’s frequently on CNN, Democracy Now, and C-Span, among other media outlets, and he’s appeared in more than 25 documentaries and films, including The Matrix.

In this episode of Equity Talks, Melonie Parker, Google's Chief Diversity Officer, speaks to West about the power of love, the roots of white supremacy, and the importance of hope.
