Diegetic vs Nondiegetic Sound Part 3: Voiceover
In this video, we continue looking at how films can blur the boundaries between diegetic and nondiegetic sound. In particular, we'll look at examples of voiceover narration that lie on different parts of the spectrum from diegetic to nondiegetic. In the most complex cases, the voiceover actively slides along that spectrum.
Examples include clips from War of the Worlds (Spielberg, 2005), Sunset Boulevard (1950), and Memento (Nolan, 2000).
