1994 and Jumpin Jack Frost was a household name in the jungle scene having risen up through the ranks from 1987 onwards, when acid house caught the attention of this aspiring pirate DJ. However, Frost (real name Nigel Thompson) had a dark side. A teenage gang member of a notorious Brixton outfit, Frost had been in and out of trouble with police and rivals on the street all his life and when fame came knocking in the nineties – as a big-name DJ and co-owner of the highly influential V Recordings – he still found himself battling the very same demons that had threatened him with a life of endless crime. Things, as they say, came to a head in 1994, when salvation came in a musical form, just when he needed it most… (co-author Andrew Woods)
