"LONG LIFE" (Lyle Mays) for Solo Piano by Uwe Karcher

This is my fourth project to translate an orchestral Lyle Mays composition into solo piano music (after "Close To Home", "August" and "Au Lait" - if you count "September 15th" too, it would be number 5 ). I couldn't resist bringing the piano sound in the mix in a expansive direction as a reminder of Lyle's original (which has various synth backings for the ultimate "space" sound). Today, after Lyle's untimely death, I wonder if the song title is a clue from Lyle that he knew about the possibility of leaving us early due to illness. Somehow it sounds like a requiem to me. Anyway, it was special for me to play it. Thanks Lyle! You are still very much missed ... BTW, the tune is (mainly) in a combined 5/4 - 7/4 meter (for your interest 😉)
