Whose Voice Are You Following? Mass reading for Sunday 26th April, 2026

Today is Good Shepherd Sunday.
And the readings the Church gives us this Fourth Sunday of Easter are not random. They are a complete picture — from Pentecost to the cross to the sheepfold — of what it means to belong to Christ.
Peter stands before the crowd and declares it plainly. God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ. The crowd is cut to the heart and asks — what must we do? The answer is the same today as it was then. Repent. Be baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.
The second reading reminds us where we were before. Wandering. Lost. Like sheep with no shepherd. But Christ carried every sin to the cross and brought us back.
And in the Gospel Jesus makes the claim that changes everything. I am the Gate. I am the Good Shepherd. My sheep know my voice. And I came so that you may have life — life in abundance.
Not survival. Not religion. Abundance.
