Abdominal Aorta AI Segmentation in DICOM Vision: AAA Measurements and Stent Analysis

In this demo, we show an early integration inside DICOM Vision of an AI model developed in collaboration with academic research teams from the University of Pavia and the University of Genoa.

The workflow focuses on abdominal aorta segmentation, with automatic extraction of relevant measurements for abdominal aortic aneurysm analysis and support for aortic stent evaluation.

The goal is to demonstrate how specialized AI models can be integrated directly into a DICOM-native medical imaging platform, making advanced image analysis more accessible within the imaging workflow itself.

Instead of moving data across disconnected tools, DICOM Vision can support a more integrated process:

DICOM / CTA study → AI aorta segmentation → automatic measurements → aneurysm analysis → stent evaluation → review

This type of workflow can support research, validation, clinical engineering, and AI-assisted image analysis by reducing manual steps and making model outputs easier to inspect, refine, and use.
