They Lied About the Slave Population Growth

They Lied About the Slave Population Growth

At some point, you have to stop and ask…

Do the numbers actually make sense?

We’re told that a relatively small number of enslaved Africans were brought into North America.

Yet today, the Black population in the United States is nearly 50 million.

Now think about the conditions:

Harsh labor.
High mortality rates.
Short life expectancy.
Families constantly being separated.

So how does a population grow that rapidly under those circumstances?

That’s not a conclusion.

That’s a question.

Because history isn’t just about memorizing what you’re told.

It’s about examining it.

Looking at the data.
Looking at the context.
Looking at what might be missing from the explanation.

Were there additional populations involved?

Were identities reassigned over time?

Were people categorized in ways that changed how history was recorded?

Because once something is written down and repeated long enough…

It becomes accepted as fact.

But numbers tell stories.

And sometimes…

They raise questions that don’t have simple answers.

This isn’t about denying history.

It’s about thinking deeper.

Because understanding your past means being willing to question the narrative—not blindly accept it.

The real question is:

Are you looking at the numbers…

Or just the story built around them?
