1,883 WHP Toyota 2JZ | Isidoro de Los Santos | El General Racing Team

The latest vehicle to hit the FuelTech in-house Mainline Hub Dyno proves that horsepower is cool regardless of the source. The team extracted 1,883 WHP from El General Racing Team’s Toyota AE86 and its 2JZ inline six-cylinder engine.

El General Racing Team’s new adventure pulled together many prominent groups and it all began with a 2JZ from the world-famous Lazcano. Pro Line Racing brought in RK Racecraft and Homier Fabrications to handle plumbing, wiring, and the addition of a Precision 88mm turbocharger.

Driver Isidoro de Los Santos plans to compete in the Modified category at Sport Compact events with 6-second elapsed times and speeds over 200 mph.

The team selected a number of FuelTech products for the potent 2JZ six-cylinder powerplant and it all begins with the FT600 engine management system. It is one of four ECUs available from FuelTech and each unit packs a serious list of options that have helped racers break records and win races on tracks around the world. Each ECU in the PowerFT line-up (FT600, FT550, FT550LITE, and FT450) is capable of sequential injection and ignition, O2 closed loop, Data Logger, Delay Box, Traction Control, Boost Controller, PRO-Nitrous Controller, along with powertrain management. Further eliminating the need for additional add-ons is the LCD display that is standard on FT600, FT550, and FT450 control boxes. The display features a TFT touchscreen showing real-time data and allowing the user to make adjustments without a PC connection.

The El General AE86 racecar employs a FTSPARK-6 Gen 2 CDI racing ignition system to light off the intense mixture of compressed methanol fuel and boosted air. FuelTech also supplied the Peak and Hold drivers for ultimate in fuel injector control. The WB-O2 Nano sensors monitor the air/fuel ratios while communicating with the FT600 through a CAN bus connection. A SwitchPanel-8 is a high-quality switch panel that uses LED lighting and offers dozens of expandable options such as nitrous control, traction control, engine start button, and internal logger activation. The internal Boost Controller uses the FuelTech Boost Control Dual Valve kit to regulate the wastegates. A Vacuum Distribution Manifold was also pulled off FuelTech’s shelf to help keep the vacuum lines organized and trouble-free.

From 5,000WHP billet V-8 engines to sporty and popular Toyota 2JZ inline six-cylinder engines that produce nearly 1,900 WHP, FuelTech PowerFT engine management systems fit a diverse number of powerplants and it is why you’re seeing #FuelTechEverywhere
