The Martin Luther King "I Have A Dream" Episode

I remember first learning who Martin Luther King Jr. was from this episode of The Cosby Show. Alhough arguing and fighting the entire episode, in this scene, the whole room stops what they are doing in their tracks, to gather around the TV and listen to his I Have a Dream speech.

I remember looking around at my family gathering around our TV, and for a few minutes the entire country was experiencing the same moment again, in their living rooms, as if the speech was live. The next day everyone talked about it. That was the power of TV in the 80's. There were only a few networks. We all pretty much watched the same stuff. We could control toxicity.

Say what you will about Bill Cosby, and I will not argue you. But you can't argue with how wonderful The Cosby Show was. It's a shame that his current reputation has to tarnish such brilliant television. Damn shame.
