Charlie Brown was right that Luke's account of the birth of Jesus explains the true meaning of Christmas. But since Christmas wasn't celebrated until hundreds of years after Luke wrote his Gospel the reverse isn't true: Christmas can't explain the true aim and meaning of Luke 2. That leaves open the question: what exactly did Luke have in mind when he first penned this famous story? What was his point? The biblical scholar David Gooding provides a compelling answer in his book "According to Luke" and this video expands on his explanation.
