Ruel Reid & Co-Accused ARR@STED !! REMAINS IN CUSTODY UNTIL THURSDAY

Multiple criminal charges were this afternoon filed against all five suspects picked up in the raids.

The fired Education Minister, Ruel Reid, his wife and a daughter, President of the Caribbean Maritime University, Professor Fritz Pinnock, and JLP Councilllor for the Brown’s Town Division in North West St. Ann, Kim Brown Lawrence.

Abka Fitz-Henley reports on the latest developments in the corruption scandal which has the country buzzing.

Among the crimes Reid is accused of committing are breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act and the Proceeds of Crime Act, POCA.

The former Education Minister has also been charged with conspiracy to defraud.

Similar charges were also laid on Reid’s wife, Sharen, his daughter Sharelle and Professor Pinnock.

Councillor Brown Lawrence is accused of conspiracy to defraud and possession of criminal property.

All five were charged this afternoon by investigators at MOCA and the Financial Investigations Division, FID.

Pinnock, Reid, his wife and daughter, were charged just after 4:00pm and are in the custody of FID investigators.

Brown Lawrence is being held at this hour at the Central Police Station.
All five are to appear in court later this week.

It’s not immediately clear whether they’ll remain in jail tonight.
