Making Charcoal with a Retort

This video shows two ways of making charcoal; (1) using a burn barrel over an open fire and (2) a charcoal retort, which is a very efficient way of making charcoal. A retort burns the gas released from the wood to heat the wood as it is being turned to charcoal and thus requires little fuel and contains no external fire.
