Lumad is a Bisayan term meaning “native” or “indigenous”. The term Lumad is the ascribed collective name of the indigenous peoples of Mindanao.

Igorot, (Tagalog: “Mountaineer”) any of various ethnic groups in the mountains of northern Luzon, Philippines, all of whom keep, or have kept until recently, their traditional religion and way of life. Some live in the tropical forests of the foothills, but most live in rugged grassland and pine forest zones higher up.

Ibaloi is derived from i-, a prefix signifying "pertaining to" and badoy or house, together then meaning "people who live in houses". The Ibaloi are one of the indigenous peoples collectively known as Igorot (igudut, "hill-dwellers"), who live in the cordillera central of Luzón.

Aeta or Aetas. 1. : an indigenous people inhabiting the central and southern Zambales mountains in Zambales, Pampanga, and Bataan provinces of the Philippines.

Badjao or Bajau means man of the seas, this tribal group is known as the Sea Gypsies because they move with the wind and the tide on their small houseboats called vintas, they can be found in many coastal settlements and inhabit the waters and shores of the Sulu archipelago.

The name Tagbanua derives from tiga banua, meaning "people of the village." There is evidence of early influence from Hinduized Brunei. In more recent times, Muslim traders and aristocrats, chiefly Tausug from Sulu, dominated Palawan.

A member of any of several peoples in the Visayan Islands, Philippines. The group of Austronesian languages of the Bisayans.

The name "Tausug" supposedly means “People of the Current,” though it is also said to derive from tau, "person," and Suug which is the old name for the island of Jolo. This widespread group has a large population in Malaysia as well as the Philippines.

The Blaan people, are one of the indigenous peoples of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. Their name could have derived from "bla" meaning "opponent" and the suffix "an" meaning "people".

Batak is the name given to the tribe by the Cuyunons and it means “people of the mountains.” While the Batak are people of the mountains today, they were originally settled along the beautiful coastline and river valleys northeast of Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan.

The term “Isneg” derives from a combination of “is” meaning “recede” and “uneg” meaning “interior.” Thus, it means “people who have gone into the interior.” In Spanish missionary accounts, they, together with the Kalinga and other ethnic groups between the northern end of the Cagayan Valley and the northeastern part of the province.

The Ilongot are a forest people that live in Nueva Vizcaya Province in Luzon. Also known as the Ibilao, Ibilaw, Ilungut, Ilyongt, Lingotes, they are former headhunters and live in an enclave and have resisted attempts to assimilate them.
