The LAST Photo of LEE HARVEY OSWALD #death #jfk #leeharveyoswald #dallas #1963 #jackruby #assassin
Lee Harvey Oswald was a former U.S. Marine and Marxist who assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
He never stood trial for the murder, as he was shot and killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while in police custody two days later.
The final photograph taken of Oswald alive is the iconic split-second image captured by Dallas Morning News photographer Jack Beers.
It shows Oswald in a dark suit walking through the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters, just a fraction of a second before Jack Ruby stepped out from the crowd and fired a fatal shot.
Oswald passed say on November 24, 1963, at approximately 11:21 AM CST in the basement of the Dallas Police Headquarters.
While being transferred from the city jail to the county jail, Oswald was shot in the abdomen at point-blank range by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
The shooting was broadcast live on national television.
Oswald was rushed via ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital—the same hospital where JFK was pronounced dead two days prior.
He was pronounced dead at 1:07 PM CST without regaining consciousness.
He was laid to rest on November 25, 1963 at the Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Burial Park (formerly Rose Hill Memorial Burial Park) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Due to the notoriety of the assassination, local funeral homes and cemeteries were reluctant to handle the burial.
With no traditional mourners available, news reporters and journalists served as pallbearers.
His body was laid to rest in a simple wooden casket marked only by a plain cross, and later a simple stone bearing his last name.
