Rajnath addresses ASEAN defence ministers' meet, bats for unimpeded commerce in South China Sea

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) via video conference on 16 June. The ADMM-Plus is a platform for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations comprising 10 countries and its eight dialogue partners — India, China, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States. The objective is to strengthen security and defence cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.

The inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Hanoi in 2010.

Speaking at the meet, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India supports freedom of navigation, over flight, and unimpeded commerce in the South China Sea, and also called for a free, open and inclusive order in the Indo-Pacific.
