IGP Zulfiqar Hameed Inaugurates Advanced Drone Training Center in KPK

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Combat Drone School and an Elite Mechanical Workshop at the Elite Training Center.

This first-of-its-kind Combat Drone School is a remarkable achievement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s UAV Division. It will not only train personnel in operating drones but also in assembling advanced drones from various components and using them in the field for reconnaissance, surveillance, attack, and defense purposes. The school is aligned with modern technological and military requirements. It will serve as a shield against terrorist attacks by militant groups and will enable the police to carry out highly effective operations in difficult terrains without putting human lives at risk.

One of the most notable features of the school is the use of a First-Person View (FPV) system, which allows drones to maneuver through narrow streets, inside rooms, and between trees with high speed and precision, making it easier to target both stationary and moving objects.

After the inauguration, the IGP toured different sections of the school and inspected various drones and anti-drone systems. He also interacted with training instructors present at the site and gained information about modern drone components.

The IGP also inaugurated and visited the Elite Mechanical Workshop, which has been established to enhance understanding of different types and calibers of weapons and to test their capabilities to the fullest extent. He spoke with the armorers present at the workshop, inspected various weapons, and appreciated the staff’s expertise.

On this occasion, the police chief stated that drone technology has been acquired in response to new tactics used by terrorists, and the modern drone school is part of this effort. He added that the Combat Drone School will enable the force to accurately target terrorists and their hideouts in narrow valleys and rugged mountainous areas.

He further said that the Elite Mechanical Workshop will prove to be a game-changer in improving the effectiveness and capability of modern equipment and weapons provided to the police force. The IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emphasized that police personnel are a symbol of determination and courage, and with the best equipment and training, they will be able to effectively combat terrorism.
