FINAL DEBATE ON AMY CONEY BARRETT: Senators make last remarks before a final vote this evening on the confirmation of Pres. Trump's pick of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to sit on the Supreme Court. With the GOP controlling the chamber, Democrats are powerless to stop her confirmation unless four Republican senators side with them in voting no. Republicans have been accused of hypocrisy for moving to confirm Barrett just days before Election Day after claiming in March of 2016 that Pres. Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland was just too close to the election. If Barrett is confirmed as expected, Pres. Trump will have appointed 1/3 of the Supreme Court. Analysts say Barrett’s confirmation would push the Court further right than it has been since 1950 and lock in a conservative majority, potentially for decades.
