Roland FR8X Cory Pesaturo Demonstration

The FR-8X. I will tell you that although this is of Course an advance on the FR-7X in aspects that you would expect (sound quality, and amount of items you can change and play with, effects, etc.), but this actual Feel of the accordion is wrong. To play standing up for more than 2 hours absolutely kills you and your shoulders because the weight distribution is equivalent to driving an American Muscle Car from the 1960's. I will take my 7X 7 days of 7 out of the week as to what I want on stage. The 8X is Perfect for a Studio who wants an accordion there in the same way they have drum sets and pianos. But what studio does that? It is also very ugly compared to the 7X, starting with too many buttons, the grill makes it look more like a toy (alla how the 3X feels) and the USB port is on the front which Deletes the secrecy and surprise of it like on the 7X. That's what made the USB port so awesome.

With most all of my Roland friends not working at Roland anymore, and with me not having a direct association with them, I can give my unedited opinion. If you put the guts of this box in the 7X you'd have a Monster. But again, 99% of the people that play Roland's DO NOT EVEN NEED THE 7X! The 7 is More than enough if you start playing with electronics. You don't need to the new "thing" just because it's new.

For studios, recording, and full on ability, this is fantastic. But in terms of playing on stage..... give me my 7X. Please note to NOT BLAME Roland Europe on this. Those guys are Geniuses. They couldn't build what they wanted to build. I started talking to them about the 8X all the way back in 2009 while in Italy. They had big ideas, but they weren't allowed to go threw with them.
