ATLANTA RAPPER LIL BABY GIVES BACK AT WEST END MALL
Atlanta rapper Lil Baby pulled up in a blue Mercedes Benz G wagon and personally handed out free copies of his new album, "My Turn" at West End Mall.
His sophomore project dropped Friday, Feb. 28 and the Atlanta native couldn’t wait to celebrate in his hometown.
“It feels great, no place like home. Definitely no place like home,” he said.
Hundreds of fans ranging from as young as four-years-old to middle-aged men and women gathered around a crowded parking lot at the mall in hopes of getting close to the hip-hop star. And that they did. When Baby first arrived he made sure he got out of his car to greet everyone there. He then grabbed a box full of CD’s and started handing them out one by one.
One fan stared and smiled at his freshly wrapped CD in awe of what had just happened telling me “This feels amazing, man this is crazy.” While another fan— a little boy—holding a sign in his left hand and a CD in his right, was speechless after meeting one of his favorite rappers.
With over nine million followers on Instagram and while seemingly one of the biggest rappers right now, Baby tried his best to engage with everyone, snapping pictures and humbly thanked those who were able to come out and show him some love.
“I thank everyone who is out here. Even the ones who are not out here, I want to thank the whole Atlanta for supporting me no matter what.”
The 25-year-old rapper started to gain buzz back in 2017 after releasing his mixtape titled Perfect Timing. He quickly rose to fame and since then has had four charted singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Back in Nov. his single “Woah” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart with 24 million streams in the first week.
When asked if he thought this album would successfully break records and make it to No. 1 he quickly replied, “For sure, without a doubt.”
