The Winning Mentality | Omar Hussam | TEDxCairoUniversity

Pain vs. Pleasure. That is always what our lives revolve around. Omar talks about his challenging yet exciting experience in his university's formula student racing team, and how we, humans, always seek the easy routes in life subconsciously without realizing the real joy and outcomes that can lead from a painful experience. His message is for everyone to tame his/her mind to achieve full control on our mentality to be achievers in life. Omar Hussam graduated from the Mechanical Design Engineering Department of Cairo University in 2020. Currently a freelancing mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in automotive, machine design, and biomedical prosthetics, and great interest in media marketing, Omar is looking to project his passion towards engineering which he believes is an art.
He spent 3 years in Cairo University Racing Team, starting from a member up to an Organizational development director of a 1M EGP project that builds racing cars. He travelled with the team and took part in Formula Student UK in the years 2018 and 2019. The team went on to win 6th place overall among Electric Vehicles and dominated the MENA region in 2019. Although the project halted in 2020, he contributed to the team's effort to winning both YLF and GENEVA inventions in 2021.
Omar believes that their story is worth sharing. He believes that the mindset he acquired during his competition seasons can be extended to everyday life.
