Dr. Vijay Vad is the physician for the professional men's tennis circuit and specializes in minimally invasive treatments of sports injuries, spine, and arthritis. He joined the Hospital for Special Surgery staff on September 1, 1997 and is also the author of the books, Back Rx, Arthritis Rx and Golf Rx. In 2005, Dr. Vad's book Back Rx, was named the Wall Street Journal's favorite health book of the year. He also authored a PBS National Television special entitled, "Stop Back Pain" which premiered in June, 2011.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
