This video is the first in Module 1: Project Design. In this lesson, begin the first step in project design - knowing your organisation.
About The Course
This course provides learnings for makerspaces and small & medium enterprises (SMEs) to raise more money by winning grants and contracts. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to improve project design for funding, fundraising, tendering and pricing projects.
The course reflects the fact that most makerspace managers write proposals and tenders routinely – though most have never had any bid writing training or support. The course therefore focuses on quality, ‘tips and tricks’ and increasing success rates – so not on the basics of accessing funding but rather on improving makerspaces’ performance in fundraising.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will gain practical knowledge on:
1. Project Design: capabilities, discovery, budget sketches, titles, consortia.
2. Fundraising: tips & tricks, style, how-to, due diligence, budget, teaming.
3. Tendering: scenarios, prospecting, design, bid format, judgement, work tips.
4. Pricing: jobs, projects, in organisations, clients, markets, cashflow, nightmares.
5. Structures for Success: starting and contracting, case study, tips & tricks.
