Dr. Meg Wahlberg: Medievalist and Author

Greetings, and welcome back, my fellow authors, to another interview on the channel. Today, we have a fellow historical fiction author, Meg Wahlberg. Meg Wahlberg, earning her doctorate from Louisiana State University, specializes in medieval literature. Her research interests include Critical Animal Studies, Ecocriticism, and literature from the High Middle Ages (1000-1300). Excavating the lives of marginalized and forgotten individuals, Meg writes fiction that reconstructs the stories that history has underrepresented. She remains a longstanding member and contributor to the literary communities that shaped her as a writer: the Jersey City Writers and the provocateurs of Esoterotica. A committed educator, Meg teaches university students academic writing and literature courses. Her works have been published in various literary journals, anthologies, and through independent presses. She lives in Philadelphia with her partner, son, and a little cat named Polka. In this interview, we dive deep into her book Chivalry and how it gives agency back to queer character representation during the middle ages and makes them feel authentic rather than tropes as depicted in other works of fiction.
