GIRL TOPIC (WLOL) vs SMUT TALK (KTCR) in 1972: Marvin Gatch

From July 1972, audio clips from GIRL TOPIC and SMUT TALK from the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

WLOL 1330 had been a talk radio station who changed to a "Number 1 Music" format in mid-1972. GIRL TOPIC was a show that combined a daily question for the "girls" and pop music circa 1972.

Marv Gatch had a talk show on KTCR (country music survey from 1974 shown) - he had previously been on WLOL. His parody of "Girl Topic" was SMUT TALK (quite edgy for 1972). Included are a clip from the night that KTCR management cut the show off and the following program (from July 1972) with his boss. Litigation followed.
