From the archives: Artist David Hockney

British artist David Hockney, whose vibrant experimental works made him one of the most important figures in contemporary art, died on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at age 88. Watch these two “Sunday Morning” profiles – first from 1984, as Hockney oversaw a museum exhibition of his scenic designs for opera productions at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis; and then, from 2006, when Hockney was the subject of a career retrospective at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
