What is Partial Discharge?

A partial discharge, or PD, is a localized dielectric breakdown of a small portion of the electrical insulation. PD causes the insulation to deteriorate progressively and can lead to electrical breakdown. The integrity of the insulation of high-voltage equipment should be confirmed with PD measurement and analysis. Watch this video to learn out more about partial discharge.
