Making an Antique Style Coffee Grinder (functional art)
I had always wanted to try making an antique style Coffee Grinder and so a friend of mine sent me one. This particular kit was purchased from Penn State Industries, but they are available from other places as well.
This video was not sponsored or supported in any way by Penn State Industries.
As I do quite often, I went out of my comfort zone and decided to try finger joints for the corners of the box rather than butt joints or clean mitered corners. My intention was to make it look like an old shipping crate that perhaps fine South American coffee would have been shipped in. To this end, I used some flat-sawn oak boards I had been given that had previously been used in shipping fine lumber. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.
I highly recommend trying this kit and making yourself one of these if you can. Not only does it perform an essential job, but it also is a functional art piece and has already gotten many positive comments from friends and family.
As always, thanks for watching, enjoy the video!
