Mullaghmore & Bunduff River 18 Aug 2019 v1

The Bunduff (or Duff) flows for 14 miles from the Glenade Valley to the sea. It is joined by the Ballanaghtrillick River, which runs out of the Horseshoe Pass. The Duff is a prolific little spate river and gets a good run of summer salmon and grilse. The fish start to enter the river at the end of May with the peak of the run in July / August. With good water levels it can fish to the end of September. Given the right conditions the Duff can fish very well, especially after a fresh. The bottom 3 ½ miles is frequently fished with most anglers choosing the deep pool below the falls close to the sea so consequently this pool can become overcrowded. Once in flood this allows fish to run the falls thus producing some good fishing above the falls and also some good waters upstream of the main (N15) road bridge. Anything between 300 and 500 salmon are caught in a season.
All legitimate methods are allowed but spinning is prohibited in low water. Fishing is from 1st April to 30th September inclusive, opening from 7.30am to 9.30pm.
Fishing is prohibited from the Bunduff Fall’s to the Sea, including the Fall’s Pool.
Permits are available @ €25 per day Permit from Carty’s Land &
Sea Sports, West End, Bundoran. Tel: +353 (0)86 3903655.
