During the video, you will see where John Lee Clark locate his 1st hand on top of Justin Vollmar to get information through TASL and his 2nd hand on the arm near the elbow tapping it to let him know that he is following his conversation. This same happens when John Lee Clark signs, Justin has his 1st hand on his shoulder to let him know what he is feeling like smiling, laughing, and etc… and his 2nd hand on his arm tapping it to let him know he is following his conversation.
There is a subtitle on the video and some error which I have fixed it in this transcript. Just few words like Terra Edwards instead of Terry Edwards, etc…not many error in this subtile.
Here’s the transcript from the video:
Justin Vollmar: HELLO! Today we took a workshop with John Lee Clark. He taught Pro-Tactile (PT) ASL. WOW! It is truly CHAMP!!! (Looking at the camera)
John Lee Clark: CHAMP!!! (THUMB UPS)
Justin Vollmar: I really enjoyed this workshop very much. I have a question for John Lee Clark (Looking at the camera)
John Lee Clark: OK – Go ahead (using PT and nodding his face as to go ahead)
Justin Vollmar: Do you visualize Pro-Tactile ASL as widespread among the DeafBlind community in the future?
John Lee Clark: Yes, I visualize a widespread use but I am more excited about widespread use by DeafBlind children. A recent research shows that DeafBlind children are picking on it very quickly and more naturally. My friend, Terra Edwards’ research found new information related to TASL so I am really looking forward to the future of TASL. I will become an old generation signer. (SMILING) Your baby will be advanced TASL signer than me!
Justin Vollmar: YES! (GRINNING HARD)
John Lee Clark: Maybe one day, I will have to learn from her!
Justin Vollmar: (Still GRINNING HARD)
John Lee Clark: I did not grow up with PT but your baby will grow up with PT – WOW!
Justin Vollmar: I look at PT as a very natural environment. It means we will feed essential information such as language, expression, environment, and etc… Instead of isolation, one-on-one interactions. Pro-Tactile make for a very stimulating environment. I was very inspired and can’t wait to see Clarisa pick it up.
John Lee Clark: (nods his head in agreement)
Justin Vollmar: John, I wanted to thank you for your time today. (Looking at the screen) – If there is a Pro-Tactile workshop in your area with John Lee Clark teaching it…please show up at the workshop! It will be greatly benefit you!
