Amp Fiddler - interview: on teaching J Dilla how to use MPC; touring with George Clinton; Prince

Last Thursday J Dilla would have been 45 years old and today marks the 13th anniversary of his passing. Some time ago we got a chance to speak with one of J Dilla's early mentors - the incredibly talented singer, musician and producer from Detroit, Amp Fiddler. In this interview Amp remembers the first time he met Jay Dee, explains why Dilla was already a genius when he was in high school, speaks on teaching him how to use the MPC and also explains why he decided to introduce Dilla to A Tribe Called Quest's leader Q-Tip.

The incredibly talented and humble author of "Waltz of a Ghetto Fly" also breaks down the process of recording his last solo album and explains the meaning behind its "Amp Dog Knights" , speaks about his love for Funk Music and recalls the days of touring with George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic and shares the lessons he's learned from them. Amp also talks about his new album with Will Sessions and Dames Brown called "The One" (in stores now!).
