Closer to home, moderate trade winds are expected to weaken through the first half of the week, allowing land and sea breezes to take over across the islands. As moisture increases from the southeast, shower activity is expected to become more widespread, especially over interior and upslope areas through the early part of the week. Trade winds are forecast to return by late Wednesday, bringing more typical windward and mauka showers and continuing through the rest of the forecast period.
