Imagine a police car knocking down your only son leaving him partially paralysed. As if it's not enough, the search for justice becomes impossible because the Police Officer involved is well connected and in the middle of this darkness, your husband abandons you after realising your son is not getting any better..
This is the story of one Maureen Razoa, who has been struggling to find justice for her son Ryan Ochieng
Ryan was taking a stroll with his father after school when a police car came out of nowhere and hit him. He was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital and later referred to Kenyatta National hospital with a broken leg. It was here that the doctors confirmed Ryan's spinal cord was twisted. He can only be treated in India at a cost of Kshs 1.2M.
The father abandoned them as soon as he realized the son was not getting any better
Her efforts to get justice have not paid off, even with an OB number, name and the station of the police officer who hit her son.
Not even IPOA has come to her aid.
