The oil war: Sanctions for the long-term; survival for tomorrow | How We Got Here

It’s no secret that oil fuels wars. After all, what are tanks, warplanes, military vehicles fueled with? Diesel and gas. This is true not only today; the supplies and shortage of fuel impacted wars of the XX century.

One such example is the Second World War. Operation Barbarossa, the grand offensive against the Soviet Union. With one goal – capturing and occupying Moscow.

But to cross the plains of Eastern Europe, Hitler needed fuel. To re-supply their low fuel stock and also to deny its use to the Soviet Union, Germany pushed towards the fuel is just as important in modern warfare. This is especially visible in Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine. Russia, one of the largest global suppliers of oil, will simply never run out of supplies.

How painful of Russian refining industry are the Ukraine drone strikes? Can Russia run out of fuel? Are the Western sanctions working? Join Jan Darasz and his guest: Wojciech Jakóbik - Energy analyst, biznesalert in this episode of How We Got Here to learn answers to these and other questions.
