Scophony Baird MK I reel to reel - undergoing repair

This is a video clip of when I worked on restoring this recorder, the large 40uf caps hanging loose have been replaced with 30uf values which is correct but the old HUNTS caps which have failed have been cut open and had the contents removed and the newer smaller caps inserted to keep the look more original.
Scophony Ltd was founded in 1930 and changed their name to Scophony Baird in 1952, it would appear that this was produced in 1952 as well as the MK II came out in 1953. This is one of the earliest UK built domestic tape recorders (Thermonic Productions being older but licenced distributors of BUSH, USA), its construction is quite simple, 1 motor drives the capstan and take-up reel tension whilst a second motor gives rewind, the three controls are record, tone and volume / power. This machine required most of the electrolytic and none electrolytic capacitors to be replaced, all of them have been yet I am still getting mains hum as herd in the video, there is a thing called a “hum Dinger” which hasn’t been adjusted yet and may offer some improvement.
