Villa di Poppaea: the stunning palatial home of ancient Roman nobility

During my 3 days in Torre Annunziata, while on my 5-week epic adventure from Rome to Sicily in June of 2021, I had the privilege of visiting Poppaea's Villa (Villa di Poppaea.)

Situated in the town of Oplontis during Roman times, the villa and the town were buried, like Pompeii, in 79 AD by the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

Villa di Poppaea is a stunning, expansive, palatial home of the nobility of ancient Roman times. It is a way cool contrast to the metropolitan sprawl of Pompeii. After having visited both Pompeii and Poppaea's Villa I felt I'd gotten a full-spectrum (and completely fascinating) look at life in those times.

NO COMMENTS about my taste in music, please. If you don't care for jazz, turn off your audio.
