Tensile strength is a measure of the maximum load that a material can withstand while being stretched or pulled before breaking. It is an important property to consider when selecting materials for 3D printing, as it determines the strength and durability of the printed parts.
In 3D printing, tensile strength is typically measured in units of force per unit area, such as megapascals (MPa). The higher the tensile strength of a material, the stronger and more durable the printed parts will be. For example, tensile strength can help us understand if the material can resist braking due to tension. The test begins after inserting a test specimen into the jaws of the Instron testing machine. The testing machine then pulls on the sample until It breaks. The stress from the material breakage is the tensile strength.
Different 3D printing technologies and materials have varying levels of tensile strength. DLP 3D printing technology is compatible with a range of 3D printing materials with varying tensile strengths.
It is important to select a material with the appropriate tensile strength for the intended application to ensure that the printed parts will be able to withstand the loads and stresses they will be subjected to.
