1. What is Lock-on? (Camera Locking)
When you press the designated lock-on button—usually by clicking the Right Analog Stick (R3) on a controller or pressing the Q key on a keyboard—the game "glues" your camera to the monster.

The Effect: No matter where the monster runs, jumps, or flies, your camera will automatically rotate to keep them right in the center of your screen.

The Visual Cue: You will usually see a small glowing dot, crosshair, or reticle appear on the monster's body. This indicates your character's focus.

2. What is Targeting? (Selecting Specific Parts)
Large monsters often have multiple targetable are as, such as the head, the tail, or the front legs.

The Effect: Once you have activated the lock-on, flicking the right analog stick (or moving your mouse) allows you to switch between these different body parts.

Why it matters: In games like Monster Hunter or Elden Ring, targeting specific parts allows you to break their armor, cut off their tails for extra loot, or hit their weak spots for massive critical damage.
