Host James Zimmerman moderates a discussion with Jack Caravela and Ryan Sutter regarding America's formative years. The program begins by discussing the freedom of religion many European settlers desired. Next, they discuss the beliefs and religious affiliations of Founding Fathers such as James Madison, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, giving particular attention to where these men got their ideas from. The panel also discusses arguments put forth by those who assert America is a Christian nation, such as references to a creator in the Declaration of Independence, the pledge of allegiance and the appearance of "In God We Trust" on currency.
