Headworks Two Stage Screening System Protects Membranes from Fouling

Effective screening has long been a concern for MBR owners, operators, and engineers. Membrane fouling is the most serious problem affecting system performance and is a direct result of suspended solids in the wastewater that can damage membranes, decreasing their efficiency and dramatically increasing their lifecycle costs.

This video provides an example of the two stage screening system that Headworks® can design to provide the coarse and fine screening required to ensure successful operation of a membrane system. The first line of defense is a Mahr® Bar Screen which is followed by an Eliminator™ band screen. The dual screening system prevents the buildup of materials on the fine screens, since larger solids are removed in the first step.
