MOSCOW 🎅 Red Square before Christmas 2016 on Different Russia Channel

Hi. I live in MOSCOW (in the capital of RUSSIA).
This is the first video in a series of videos "Christmas in Moscow".
We'll take a walk in the center of Moscow (on Red Square).

With temperatures falling as low as -9ºC in the winter months, you’re almost guaranteed a white Christmas in the Russian capital. Christmastime casts a magical glow over the city, with Moscow’s grand palaces and cathedrals cloaked in white and the famous Red Square dancing with festive illuminations. Celebrating both the Christian Christmas on December 25th and the Russian Orthodox Christmas on January 7th, Moscow’s holiday season lasts well into the New Year, during which time a number of festivals and special events are held around the city.

The double Christmas celebrations aren’t the only thing that Moscow does differently to the rest of Europe – Santa Claus and his Elves are replaced by Snegurochka (the Snow Maiden) and Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost), who wears blue not red, and the New Year is celebrated both on January 1st and January 13th with firework displays held in the Red Square.
