Same happened to the dominant Offy in the early mid 70's, same to Toyota in IMSA GTP, its a little known fact the 4 cyl turbo is so superior a concept that even Toyota was refused to run a modern day version of the Offy at Indianapolis 500 late last century. Such is the total domination and fear with rivals that even in the introduction of the new version of F1 turbo era Ferrari threatened to quit the sport if 4cyl turbos were adopted (pushed by BMW and others). Think about that next time you wonder how shit modern F1 sounds and why the cry babies all through history resort to the rule book and under the table bribes to stop the best from competing.....
