Meet the Chicago South Side Pastor Sampled by Kanye West

Pastor T. L. Barrett, a Pentecostal preacher on Chicago's South Side, wrote and recorded soul-infused gospel music in the 1970s with his youth choir.

40 years later, his music is reaching a new generation of listeners through productions by Kanye West, DJ Kahled and major ad campaigns.

On Sunday, the 76-year-old pastor opened his church to play music and preach indoors for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak.
