At the time, Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Ron Hickman, now the current Sheriff of Harris County in Houston, Texas, took the side of the killer's family by writing a letter to the parole board to get the killer, Donald Lee Fincher Jr., released from prison early. The act of betrayal went deeper when it was made aware that Ron Hickman was friend's of the Fincher family and the campaign treasurer for Texas State Representative, Patricia Fincher Harless.
