When members of our family moved to Japan the question was already out there: when are you coming to visit? While I had kind of entertained the thought of a visit it wasn't until I realized that Japan had a tropical paradise with some shelling opportunities that things started to happen.

When it became evident that we were going to visit, I asked the group if we could also stay in Okinawa and it was resounding yes. After all the arrangements were made, I started doing research and had some new friends offer some tips and recommendations. Not sure how difficult it would be to find seashells I ventured out on my own on the first day and several days thereafter. Shelling Okinawa was an awesome experience.
