682MPH Tesla Turbine - Supersonic Attempt 1 - 750psi

Our Mk2 Tesla Turbine 5" Stainless Steel 316 Rotor Warps at 682MPH and slows turbine down by rubbing on the acrylic casing. I could smell it whilst I was watching through a blast shield!

As it slows down the metal changes shape and allows it to speed up again until the pressure has decreased too much in the compressed air tank to allow acceleration.

The stainless steel 316 metal has not got a high enough yield and tensile strength for these pressures and speeds.

This is also why Tesla recommended tapered discs. You can not taper stainless steel 316 easily. Forged discs would work well.

This is probably the fastest Tesla turbine since Nikola Tesla was alive. How did he do it? He used Nickel Silver which was the highest yield and tensile strength metal available at the time aka "German Silver", C770.

Nikola Tesla also invented analogue dynamic balancing which is far superior to digital or static analogue or digital balancing. British Patent 186,799

To allow the rotor to supersonic speeds we will now use our hardened stainless 420HTP (surgical steel) rotor with tapered discs which is the full Mk2 design. Also we will use our simple design stainless steel 316 air bearings will enable:

1. Quiet running
2. Supersonic starting speed which will enable:
3. Continuous vacuum with no compressed air input - Self-Acting Machine
4. Ambient air tap for port (one that tap fell off) to turn machine into self running adjustable speed motor
5. Ambient air tap for diverging nozzle for rapidly converting atmospheric pressure and heat to distilled water. Dehumidifier on steroids!!!

I need to get the new rotor balanced and retest to show you the difference.

I expect it to be far superior in all the ways I have described.

With your help so far we have pushed the boundaries of the Tesla turbine to levels not seen since Tesla's days.

We could also add a vacuum stage which will reduce the speed of sound immensely and allow us to run using the 1-2% water in ambient air as it implodes down the vortex created in the air.

Did you know in a full vacuum the speed of sound is 0mph... Full vacuum is impossible and we are only looking to make 28" of mercury as a goal.

This will mean the Tesla turbine is supersonic at much lower speeds. How low we don't know yet...... Lets find out! :-)

We have also prototyped Nikola Tesla's valvular conduit and combustion chamber to replace the compressed air tank but we need to manufacture metal Tesla valves. Two Mk1 valves will cost £1800 and two Mk2 valves with cost £1950. We have an engineering team standing by to make these within a week. They will be milled from billet aluminium and the lids welded on so no high pressure can leak.

This new setup will allow the turbine to be started using any combustible fuel which can be water cooled by a separate tank. This will initiate cold steam which is far more expansive and viscous than 750PSI!!!!!!

Read the opening paragraph and appreciate that to realise these BOLD claims from Nikola Tesla, you need to reach supersonic speeds to start the engine. Using a vacuum pump as the second stage enables this much easily.

I have a company ready to manufacture the vacuum pump casing from aluminium or acrylic on standby. It will cost £1250 in acrylic and £1450 in aluminium, to be machined within 2 weeks using 5 axis CNC milling machine.

Lets build it before everywhere is shut!

Lets prove this technology to the world that it is most green and viable.
