Centre’s Surgical Strike on Gold Imports has triggered major discussion across the jewellery and export sectors after the central government introduced stricter regulations on gold imports. The new measures are aimed at controlling excessive imports and managing foreign exchange pressure.According to reports, Centre’s Surgical Strike on Gold Imports includes a 15% duty on gold imports and fresh operational restrictions for importers and exporters. The new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry are expected to impact jewellery exporters and bullion traders across the country.The latest Centre’s Surgical Strike on Gold Imports also reportedly limits gold imports to 100 kilograms under specific conditions. Exporters importing gold may now be required to export at least 50% of the imported quantity. Authorities are also expected to examine manufacturing and export capacity before granting permission for further imports.
