MID-WINTER WEED CONTROL 2020: Taking The Time To Spray Weed Killer In The Dormant Bermuda

The beauty of Bermuda being dormant during the winter months is that anything green is not Bermuda and therefore either a weed or an undesirable form of grass. Today we are doing a second round of Roundup spot spray any green clumps in the grass to help eliminate anything not Bermuda.

Theoretically, since the Bermuda is dormant and not absorbing any nutrients, it should not absorb any of the weed killer. That being said, if it does kill any of the Bermuda in the spray areas, the Bermuda will self-heal in the Spring on its own. Also, remember to spray on a day where the temps are at least 60 degrees, but make sure you don’t wait until the Bermuda begins to green up. If the Bermuda is greening up, you will need to use a different product that meant to keep your lawn safe while still able to kill weeds.
