What is Rangoli?
Rangoli Traditional Indian decoration and patterns made with ground rice, particularly during festivals.

When it is Usually Made?
It is usually made during Diwali, Onam, Pongal and other Indian festivals.

What is the Purpose of drawing Rangoli?
The purpose of Rangoli is not just the decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck. In Few states of India Rangoli are drawn on the doors of homes on a daily basis, so that evil forces attempting to enter are repelled.

What are the materials used to draw Rangoli?
The base material is usually dry or wet granulated rice or dry flour, to which sindoor (vermilion), haldi (turmeric) and other natural colors can be added. Chemical colors are a modern variation. Other materials include colored sand and even flowers and petals, as in the case of flower rangolis.
