Brazil: How chaotic is this government? Hamilton Mourao Interview | Conflict Zone
"Brazil is a very different country and well, some things that happen here doesn't happen in other countries," Vice President Hamilton Mourao told Conflict Zone, regarding the dramatic departure of a senior minister in June.
Allegations of high-level corruption, huge fires and illegal deforestation in a vital rainforest, and dangerous talk about military intervention also do not feature in the politics of most countries - but each is an issue in the capital Brasilia.
On top of this, the country faces the third highest number of Covid-19 cases in the world. President Jair Bolsonaro dismissed the virus in March as "a measly cold." Since then Bolsonaro has contracted the virus and nearly 150,000 Brazilians have died of it.
How did the government let things get so bad? Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourao is our guest on Conflict Zone.
