WATCH: Obama warns democracy is at stake in the 2020 election

Former President Barack Obama said that democracy is at stake this presidential election year, and encouraged Americans to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who he said “care about every American,” and believe that “the right to vote is sacred.” On the third night of the Democratic National Convention he urged voters to embrace their responsibilities as citizens and turn out to vote so that “the basic tenets of our democracy endure.” The coronavirus pandemic upended both parties’ traditional conventions. Instead of in-person events, the DNC program each night features a number of speakers and musical performances virtually across the country.
